System Engineer
Overview:
Experience with Window 200x, IP network, Web service Architecture, .NET framework, SQL database, Microsoft Backoffice Suite and Active Directory engineering is the basic requirement for this position. You will also be responsible for resolution of network systems, operating systems, database connection and application troubleshooting. Ideal candidate must have solid foundations on Windows security fundamentals, networking, TCP/IP, Compaq/HP servers’ technology, Microsoft Clusters technology and IIS web service.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to maintain and manage a large-scale Windows 200x web farm and troubleshoot and resolve production problems in a timely manner.
• Recommend, plan for implementing server hardware/software upgrades in an IIS Web farm using industrial best practice with minimal downtime.
• Coordinate and supervise all release activities into production environment.
• Automate systems monitoring task using standard monitoring tools.
• Ensures the development and use of an effective preventive maintenance program suitable to meet the operation objective of "99.9% availability".
• Responsible for proactively managing and optimizing sites and systems.
• Assists in planning, designing and implementing a high quality production environment.
• Assists in evaluating, recommending, and selecting equipment, services and vendors.
• Maintain and update documentation of the computing environment.
• As a member of the team will respond to all system problems on a 7X24 basis and take part in on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
• 6-8 years hands-on experience on system administration skills, server build and server troubleshooting in collocation environments. Solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies and software tools for performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 4 years hands-on experience in a mission-critical production environment of 100+ servers using Microsoft Windows 200x, SQL Server, MS Clusters, .NET Platform and IIS Web Server.
• Minimum 4 years solid VB and Windows batch scripting and automation experience in a mission critical production environment.
• Minimum 4 years hands-on experience designing and managing server farms running .NET and COM+ application for E-commerce systems infrastructure.
• Solid background on TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting in a Microsoft Windows networking environment. Strong knowledge of NetIQ monitoring software is highly preferred.
• Experience with Compaq/HP server hardware, SAN and business suite management software.
• Experience setting policies, procedures, network software and hardware standards, documentation standards.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP and security best practice with Windows 2000 minimum (2003 desired).
• Familiarity with Unix systems (Linux/Redhat & Solaris) and able to provide at least helpdesk level support on those platforms is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of windows command line utilities and tools.
Skills required: ASP/HTML, Windows 200x, IIS, Compaq/HP server technology and fluent in at least one scripting language such Java Script or VB Script.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent job experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CCNA and MCSE required, CCNP desirable
